Prestidigitation

On Thursday we had A Magical Enrichment night. Let me tell you--it was pretty exciting. A fellow in our ward is an amateur magician and he put on a show for us. Then he taught us how to perform a couple of simple tricks. When I tried these at home for my children, they were floored by my newfound talent. You would think I had sawed Rance in half, or yanked a rhinoceros out of my silk hat or something. Just because I can pull a quarter out of their ears, they have a whole new level of respect for me. When I tell them that I have "eyes in the back of my head," I think they will believe me now. And, thanks to a couple of card tricks, I might be able to convince them that I really can read their minds when they are lying to me. I just wanted to share this tidbit of parenting wisdom with everyone else because it was so unexpected. If you want your kids to think you have "street cred," all you have to do is a couple of cheesy magic tricks. That makes me wonder what would happen if I went to Clown School...

LOL That is pretty cute. Hopefully it works for you for a while. Wil would tell misbehaving kids that were "making Jesus sad". It worked for a bit.
