Someone Stop Me!

Wow, I just can't stop myself from posting today! I found some pictures of our recent trip to La Jolla Beach. It was so amazing. While we were there we saw dolphins, all sorts of crazy pelicans and other sea birds, and lots of seals.

Here are some seals sunning themselves. There is no law against venturing onto the beach while they are there, but if you do, a rabid group of environmentalists will come after you. We decided to take our picture from the cliff above.

Emma, Laura, Tyler, and a bunch of strangers playing in the surf.

We also took advantage of the free day at the Page Museum (the La Brea Tar Pits). This small museum was just the right size for the kids and filled with interesting tidbits.

For instance, did you know there used to be camels and sloths in California? There are over a hundred actual tar pits around Hancock park. You can still see some of them surrounded by little fences. They don't look that menacing until you see the 13 foot Columbian Mammoth that got stuck. What a way to go...

If you pull on the handles at this exhibit, you can see what if feels like to get your foot stuck in the tar. It is still amazing to me that they have extracted over a million fossils. I will stop sounding like an advertisement now, and just say that we had a fun and informative visit.
