Congratulations Rance

Congratulations to Rance, who gave birth to his fourth kidney stone this week. It was a whopper, but after a tough labor Thursday, both the father and the stone are doing fine.

In the past, Rance has always birthed a kidney stone in conjunction with the birth of one of our children. The day before Emma was born, I spent in the Emergency Room holding Rance's hand and telling him to breathe. Then we went home, got a few hours of sleep, and checked back into the hospital to welcome Emma into the world. Rance waited to have his second stone until two weeks after Laura was born. That was exciting! He seemed to be getting the hang of things when Tyler was born though, because it took moving and a job change on top of Tyler's birth to prompt another stone.

Obviously, the doctors think Rance's stones are stress induced. I, however, have another theory. Having kidney stones is as painful as birth, and Rance is a very competitive fellow. I think he is really just trying to "one up" me! He is tired of the babies getting all the glory. Well, I will show him. Maybe next time I am pregnant, I will have twins...with no epidural. And I can have them at home. No cushy hospital bed and cozy birthing jacuzzi for me! Emma can deliver them and I will just bite on a stick for the pain. Beat THAT Rance!

Congratulations Rance!! Have you named it yet? Anyway, it was great to talk to you on the phone tonight. Have fun this weekend with out us. Think of us when you are lounging on the beach and watching fireworks...we will be haying, moving cows and weeding our big ol' pumpkin patch!

I am laughing and cringing at the same time. I am so sorry for Rance. Stop stressin' man! Speaking of stress, call Jonathan, he has some good news :-).
