Saturday evening we went to the La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA. The tar pits museum was closed, but out front (middle of LA) is a genuine tar pit. Not to leave any doubt in children's minds as to how the animals ended up in the museum, they have sculptures.I like how it isn't just a single animal. There is a family, complete with a baby crying out to it's parent. (Side note, I assumed it was the mother in the tar. Julie assumed it was the father. Discuss amongst yourselves.) The picture is our children being sad about the mammoth caught in the tar. It would have been cooler to have a Sabre Tooth Tiger in the mix, but this is the only one I could find outside.
We then went into the LACMA--yes 3 children, 2 adults. I have to say my wife has them well trained. Only Tyler and I were restless. Mind you, it was a first impression, but the part we were in was dark (dark feelings--not lighting). Only redeeming grace was a small room we happened across with some Monet and Rodin. Can't say I ever thought of them in the same sentence, or really thought about them that much, but it worked. We will have to go back when both museums are open, then we can each enjoy our own interests.
I also captured Tyler's grin. This is usually followed by teasing or some form of evilness in general. But it sure is cute.Last of all, this picture is blurry because I didn't have my tripod, but I still like it.
I will report on President's Day tomorrow because I have to get up early. A hint of things to come is: "The Land of Desolation."
