This is a picture I took on New Years Eve. We spent the evening somewhere between Santa Monica and Marina del Rey. This pier was jam packed with people 15 minutes before the picture. Several hundred people flocked onto it about 10 minutes before sunset, watched it go down and kissed, then left within 5 minutes of the sundown. It wasn't even dark yet, there was still the hue, but they were all gone.
Anyway, we didn't last until midnight, the kids were worn out and so were we so we headed home. Then we spent New Years day out at the Ventura Pier. It was chilly, but fun.

I can't believe we were on the Ventura pier within hours of each other! I had the thought as we got off the freeway there to tell you guys that it is one of our favorite places to go and if you were to go to take such and such exit and park in the free parking. I didn't listen to the prompting. All I can say is "I'm still learning" and I'm sorry!
That is really funny, eh?
Free parking! We paid to park so next time we head that way we will give you a shout and get the insider info.
We also thought about calling you guys, but we knew your family had been fighting the flu so we decided to not bother you.
