Those Crafty Devils at NBC

I love the Olympics! Watching all that competition and athletic prowess thrills me. I know I personally will never set a world record in pole vaulting, but thanks to modern technology, I can witness someone else do it from the comfort of my own couch without breaking a sweat or pulling any obscure muscles. Then, just when I think it is safe to go to bed, onto the screen flashes something like “trampoline gymnastics in 13 minutes,” or “Micheal Phelps adds to his ridiculous amount of gold medals in 8 minutes.” Well, of course I have to stay up for that. It's only a couple of minutes, right?

Before I know it, it's midnight and I am destine to spend another bleary-eyed day going through the motions of work and motherhood like a zombie. I thought the point of the Olympics was to promote peace and celebrate athleticism, not to turn an entire nation in sleep-deprived slugs. Is this really an elaborate plot by the Chinese to make us so tired, we won't notice that their gymnasts are only 9?

p.s. Did you know that judo is the only Olympic sport where "submission holds allow choking an opponent or breaking an arm." Where can I sign up for that sport!

I completely agree. I am happy to see others with black circles under their eyes. My kids started school this week so I banned Olympic watching for myself at night. We don't even have cable, but we've managed to stay late at relative's houses who do have it or download choppy versions off the computer.
How's Idaho? How's Rance? Rance, how are you?

Julie....how are things in Idaho? Did you get all unpacked and moved in? It was fun to visit with Rance on his way through, but I'm afraid it made him get to Boise in the wee hours of the morning! Hope the kids are having fun in school!
