Well, Emma and Laura are in their second semester of swimming lessons this year, and I am amazed at how quickly they are learning. Emma can swim across the width of the Olympic sized pool at the Pasadena Aquatic Center, and Laura is finally (with much coaxing and coddling from me and her teacher) able to swim about 5 feet by herself. My favorite thing that I have heard Laura's very patient teacher say is: "It's not really a good idea to try and breath underwater."
During the first session of lessons, the students had class in one half of the pool, and in the other half, someone was shooting a movie. I wasn't brave enough to ask which movie it was, but I think it may be some sort of documentary or educational show about diving. There were buff athletes doing unbelievable dives in front of a blue screen that was at least 4 stories high. I felt like I had front row seats to the Olympics. Stuff like this only happens in L.A. Where else could you sign your kid up for swimming lessons and find yourself behind the scenes of a movie?
