It is called the Campo dei Fiore. Every morning (except Sunday) they set up an open air market in the square. You can buy fresh fruit and veggies and a couple random other things like purses with famous people painted on them.
I am having a wonderful time so far, but I must admit that I would probably trade one of my organs for a little air conditioning in my apartment. Hot just isn't sufficient to describe the broiling climate. Imagine yourself suspended over a pot of boiling water completely engulfed in hot steam. That is about what it feels like. The day we arrived was the hottest day of the year so far in Italy. Hooray.
I am trying to learn the ropes at the library, so I haven't been able to do much sight seeing yet (Plus being jet lagged makes me want to sleep at odd times of the day), but we did get to go to the Pantheon yesterday. Check it out! That's ME at the Pantheon. I am more than a little excited about it!

The Pantheon is only a block or two from our apartment. So is the Piazza Navona where there are a three cool fountains. One was built by Bernini and we got to meet some police when we found out that you can't put your feet in it. :-) In ancient times, some of the emporers used to flood the entire piazza with water to stage mock navel battles. Occasionally they would let people swim in it during holiday festivals. It's a shame they stopped doing that.
